RECENT NEWS & PHOTOS OF SOME PREVIOUS EVENTS July 2011 Pretty In Pink 1066 Summer Ball Well what a night was had by all. 150 people danced the night away, ate great food and celebrated life. The evening included the 'Grand Prize Draw' you would have heard from us by now if you were a winner. As part of the evening there were some auction lots too. The grand total is not in yet as we still have money rolling in. We have definatly passed our goal of £10,000 Thank you to all the table sponsors who supported this event and Aaron Norton the wonderfull muscian who we were able to dance the night away too. If you don't know who he is check him out on 'You tube' also thank you to the String Quartet and the UK Garrison for their envolvment with this event. Azur staff served us all so well too and a late night was had by all. We look forward to running future events at Azur. June 2011 Pretty in Pink Promo in Priory Meadow With only a few weeks left till we get our dance shoes on. We spent the day in Priory Meadow shopping centre Hastings. Selling prize draw tickets and also advertising the event. It was a lovely day, we even had some people sign up for Septembers Community Fun Weekend. Last Sunday the Pretty in Pink team were in Debenhams along with CRUK Race for Life team. Advertising this inagural fundraising ball. This event will be raising money for CRUK, St Michaels Hospice and Friends Thru Cancer. Car boot sale and Fun Dog Show on 5th June was a little bit washed out due to the weather. This was the first time our annual Fun Dog Show has been effected by the weather. The new home of our Dog Show and Carboot sale was lovely. Thanks to Nick Brown for allowing us the use of his field in Westfield. May 2011 1066 Relay from Pevensey to Rye May 8th. Well what an event this was. Run by Hastings Runners. We were approaced to help cover the first aid and marshalling for the event. We arranged some entertainment and cake stall etc for Battle and for Rye. In battle the Battle Town band where on hand to entertian which was fantastic way to wake up a town on a Sunday morning. They were also joined by a UK Garrison member. (Star Wars carachter). This event will be repeated again next year. This year there where 200 runners from running clubs throughout south of England and a team came from America. Will you be running next year? For futher infomation and photos etc check the following website. www.spanglefish.com/1066relay 1066 life Aid 2011 We were approaced by Andy Sullivan of the Emergancy Life Support Team to help run a Basic First Aid trianing for the public. This event was run over two days and the public where offerd the oportunity to learn the basic awarness and techniques needed to recognise Stroke & Cardiac arrest as well as how to put someone in recovery position and what to do regarding choking. Students from Bexhill college assisted at the Bexhill event on the Sunday. They acted out life like senarious to show realisticly what these situations are like. In Hastings students from Parkwood Sixthform assisted to demonstrate the techniques to members of the public, under the guidence of Andy and his team. www.1066lifeaid.org.uk April 2011 Fun Swimming Relay This was a fun event and the first major event of the year. 3 hours of fun and games some senisble laps of the pool such as breaststoke and crawl. The other laps were things like ride the float, train lap, push the ball relay. Three teams totaling 20 children took part in this fun sponsored event. Thanks go to Summerfields leisure centre for allowing us to use there pool for this event. Fun was had by all. March 2011 Hastings Half Marathon This was the first year that we have attended this great event. We had a fabulous time selling cakes and sweets. Raising money for Demelza Childrens Hospice and Friends Thru Cancer. All the home made cakes were eatern up. Even the race commentators commentedon how good the sticky buns were. We look forward to returning next year to be part of this fantastic event.
